A Sweet Day

I didn't post anything yesterday because I was treating it like a Saturday since this weekend was a three-day one for me.  One of the perks of having an internship paid through the federal government: federal holidays!  The husband took the day off so that we could spend it together.  We decided to spend the day exploring Thacher State Park, which is just a short drive from dowtown Albany.  On the drive there we stopped at my favorite deli and picked up sandwiches and ate our lunch at the most beautiful spot at the head of Indian Ladder trail.  When we were sufficiently stuffed, we headed on a hike where we took in the gorgeous mountain views and vivid autumn colors.  At one point while I was walking I turned around to look at Ian and caught a glimpse of his wedding band and I had this thought, "that is my husband."  I smiled and shared that thought with him.  He said in a terrible southern accent, "you're my wife" (think "waaf").

On the way home from Thacher Park, we stopped at Indian Ladder Farms and picked out our first pumpkin as a married couple.  Oh the milestones!  Then we did our weekly grocery shopping and headed home to see Abby.  Tonight I made homemade pesto with fresh basil from our friends' garden and the amazing food processor that Dad gave to Ian and I for our birthdays.  We had gnocchi with pesto for dinner and now Ian is watching "his Dolphins" play the Jets.  Married life can be so sweet.

  1. Those pictures are absolutly gorgeous Katie! Fall kind of skipped us here in Kansas...it's like it went from summer to winter. I like that Ian is supporting the Jayhawks all the way in Albany. Looking forward to your next post!

    Love,
